Retro Martini Party - February 24, 2017

Time: 5-8PM
Location: To be provided upon ticket purchase
Cost: $175 SOLD OUT

The one, the only, the original! The Palm Springs Preservation Foundation's Retro Martini Party fundraiser has become one of the signature events of Modernism Week. This year's special venue is the storied Kirk Douglas Residence in the Old Las Palmas neighborhood. Designed by famous modernist architect Donald Wexler and built by Robert Higgins in 1954, the home was originally commissioned as a spec house by R. S. Howard (heir to the Seabiscuit racing fortune). Douglas purchased the house in early 1957 and made some minor changes to the house for his family. The home has recently undergone a sensitive renovation uncovering some of the original architectural features. Partygoers can visit Kirk Douglas' nearby tennis pavilion where he papered the walls with the colorful (and now vintage) movie posters of his celebrated career. Relax (with a martini in hand) on the tennis court and watch the southern California sun set behind the beautiful San Jacinto Mountains. For the ladies, this is the event to show off your most glamorous midcentury cocktail attire. The Retro Martini Party checks all the boxes: timeless architecture, perfect ambience and great company!
